Tips for practitioners:

  • Practice on Empty stomach, When early morning practice is not accessible, it is necessary to feel empty in the stomach to practice during other times of the day. Do not drink water, during, 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after practice. Make sure you are well Hydrated throughout the day.
  • If you have any serious Health problems that may adversely affect from practicing Asanas, please follow your doctor’s advice. Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga practice is not suitable for people having serious blood pressure problems.
  • For female practitioners, its advised to not practice during the period of Menstruation, if anyhow still have to practice, avoid inversions, deep twists, and any asana which challenges physical abilities.
  • In Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga system, each asana is a stepping stone for the next asana. If a practitioner skips through the asanas without being able to practice properly (with proper alignment) just to finish the sequence, they can easily meet with injuries, especially because they will not have the awareness of their body (about when to stop extending their boundaries of flexibility) which only comes with regular “proper” practice. Sometimes a Teacher stops the practitioner in an Asana (for example, in primary series Marichyasana D) and asks them to practice the same until they can practice that asana in proper alignment with ease before proceeding to new asana. It is because the teacher cares for the student’s well-being, and does not want them to get hurt. When a practitioner is injured, It reverses their progress, and it obviously creates a negative feeling In them and also in their friends as “Yoga is Dangerous”.
  • During the practice develop a habit to listen to the body, Listening means to be aware of different sensations that an asana/vinyasa is producing, adjust the body accordingly.

Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga practice Is a Bona-fide system, it must be learnt from a Bona-fide source, and practiced in the right way.

Do not rush through the sequence, Breathe, Sweat, and experience the Bliss…

Students who are really interested in learning the philosophical studies of Yoga and Pranayama, please express your interest to Vijay, if there are classes happening you'll be allowed to join, Or if there are few students with similar interests some special classes can be organised (no philosophy or pranayama classes will be conducted in the months of January and February)
